The genesis of the NPL (Newcastle Premier League) can be attributed to the absence of competitive cricket opportunities in the Hunter region during the winter season. Prior to 2022, dedicated cricketers were compelled to make the journey to Sydney if they wished to participate in high-quality winter cricket.
Our established reputation as a sports club led cricket enthusiasts to approach us, urging the organisation of a winter cricket competition. Given our role as a sporting club, we recognized our responsibility and commitment to the community in responding to the numerous expressions of interest that poured in. Consequently, the inaugural season of NPL T20 was born, marking a pioneering endeavour in the Hunter region. This was followed by the success of NPL2, further solidifying our position in the cricketing landscape.
